IPL CSK vs GT: Gujarat Titans Register Dominant 8-Wicket Win as Sai Sudharsan Shines with Match-Winning Knock

In the latest IPL CSK vs GT clash in IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in Match 37 of the tournament. The game, played at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, saw Gujarat outclass the home side in all departments, securing their fourth victory of the season in convincing fashion.

Chennai Super Kings Struggle Despite Gaikwad’s Lone Effort

Batting first after losing the toss, Chennai Super Kings endured a shaky start that set the tone for their innings. The top order collapsed early, leaving the team reeling at 37 for 4 within the powerplay. The early setbacks put immense pressure on captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who once again rose to the occasion with a fighting knock.

Gaikwad played a captain’s innings, remaining unbeaten on 74 runs off 60 deliveries. His composed knock helped stabilize the innings after the initial collapse. However, he lacked support from the other end as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Shivam Dube provided some resistance with a brief contribution of 22 runs, but it wasn’t enough to accelerate the scoring significantly.

Chennai eventually managed to post a modest total of 158 for 7 in their 20 overs. Gujarat’s bowling unit was disciplined and effective throughout the innings. Kagiso Rabada emerged as the standout performer with three crucial wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Manav Suthar, and Arshad Khan chipped in with one wicket each to keep Chennai under pressure.

Gujarat Titans Cruise to Victory with Ease

Chasing a target of 159, Gujarat Titans approached the run chase with confidence and intent. The opening pair laid a solid foundation, ensuring there were no early hiccups. Sai Sudharsan was the star of the night, delivering a spectacular batting display that left Chennai’s bowlers searching for answers.

Sudharsan smashed an impressive 87 runs off just 46 balls, showcasing a perfect blend of aggression and control. His innings included a flurry of boundaries and well-timed shots that kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. He dominated the chase and effectively took the game away from Chennai.

Jos Buttler also played a crucial role, contributing 39 runs and forming a valuable partnership with Sudharsan. Captain Shubman Gill added 33 runs, ensuring the chase remained smooth and uninterrupted.

Gujarat Titans comfortably reached 162 for 2 in just 16.4 overs, sealing an emphatic win and boosting their position in the IPL 2026 points table.

Bowling Efforts from Chennai Fall Short

Chennai Super Kings struggled to make an impact with the ball as their bowlers failed to defend the below-par total. Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein managed to pick up one wicket each, but the lack of breakthroughs at crucial moments allowed Gujarat to dominate the chase.
